Judge Dredd Movie on the Way – Alex Garland Writing
The well known law man of the 2000AD universe Judge Dredd is returning to the big screen for his second full length feature movie. Thankfully though Sly Stallone won’t be reprising the role after the awful 1995 movie which managed to garner a shelf full of ‘worst movie of the year awards.
The new Judge Dredd movie is coming our way from Rebellion and DNA films and is due to start shooting this year, thankfully you can at least hope for something more with writer Alex Garland on board. Garland was the writer on previous Danny Boyle movies 28 Days Later and the brilliant Sunshine, after they first teamed up when Boyle adapted his 1996 novel The Beach, onto the big screen. 2000 AD fans should have some more confidence this time around Garland is a big sci fi fan with some of his favourite movies being classics like Blade Runner, Aliens and Starship Troopers. And let’s not forget he did write Sunshine which was one of the best out and out sci fi movies in the last 5 years.
There are still lots of unknowns on this movie, we don’t yet know who is going to direct or star in the movie. Got any ideas for who should play the man himself, Judge Dredd?
