Babylon Ad, has been attracting a lot of attention recently for all the wrong reasons, but with the marketing machine bound to be in full swing for this release, it’s not really that bad a thing for the movie to be getting some news coverage.

Based on a Maurice Dantec short story called Babylon Babies, Babylon Ad Stars Vin Deissel and Michelle Yeoh. Deissel plays Thorup a mercenary for hire who takes on the freelance job of moving a woman from Russian Over to China. Unbeknown to him, the woman he is transporting is carrying a virus which is so deadly it could have devastating consequences, yet its still in high demand to certain factions who have other uses for it.

This looks like a good movie choice for Vin Deissel, it looks like a classy movie and they obviously have invested a lot of money in the production values. The director of this movie Mathieu Kassovitz has a few movies under his belt, and will be more famous to French audiences as being the director of La Haine. Gothika was his last movie, which although lacking in some areas was a visually strong film as all his previous movies have been. Kassovitz is also an actor, who has been in quite a few movies including Amelie and Munich. It will be interesting to see what he can get out of his cast on this one.

The story has been compared to the movie Children of Men, but if the story is as similar as some think then it will have a lot to live up too.

The release date for Babylon Ad is February 2008.
