Wanted – Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy

wanted_1.jpg

The new movie Wanted starring Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman, looks like an all out, summer action stunner. The trailer for Wanted gives you a good idea of where the movie is going, it follows quite a dark path, based on the comic book mini series of the same name written by Mark Millar. McAvoy plays Wesley Gibson your average wage slave who is on a slow train to nowhere, when Gibson’s father, who was an assassin himself is murdered, his fathers former associates bring Gibson into their lives. Fox played by Angelina Jolie helps Gibson unleash the powers he didn’t know he had to avenge his fathers death.

So the plot sound not so original but more importantly you have a lot of good elements mixing up here in Wanted. Firstly you have the nice casting of Jolie and McAvoy, Jolie is great in these bad ass roles and McAvoy can handle the fish out of water, that learns to walk quickly job. Secondly you have Russian director Timur Bekmambetov who was the director of Day Watch and Night Watch, both of which were visually stunning and often surreal, definately your non typical Hollywood style.

Take a look at the trailer for yourself over at the official Wanted website here, its definitely worth a watch, just for the totally absurd but very cool way in which Jolie gets McAvoy in the car.

Wanted is due out at the end of June 2008.
