The Thing Prequel is Coming

the_thing_prequel_1.jpg

Good news for fans of John Carpenter’s The Thing as a shooting date has now been announced for the prequel to the classic horror movie. The currently un-named prequel is set in the Norweigan Antartic base that we caught a glimpse of at the start of the 1982 original.

Hopefully the team behind this can make a worthy prequel to the classic horror movie, and luckily on the script side is Ronald D Moore. You may recognize Moore as one of the writing talents on the very awesome Battlestar Gallatica TV show which was jam packed full of interesting ideas, tension and of course great writing.

Empire brought us the shooting dates right here, and it looks as though filming will go down in Toronto in early March and end around June. No details on the cast yet, but i’m just glad that the long rumored remake is now full dispelled, the whole prequel idea is a much better solution and leaves the original movie untarnished as it should be.

More news on The Thing prequel as we get it.
