Street Fighter – The Legend of Chun Li
The upcoming re-imagining of the Street Fighter franchise now has a shiny new blog. There’s not to much information on there at the moment but what you do have is a pretty comprehensive summary of the cast of this upcoming video game to movie adaptation. If you were like me a massive fan of the original Street Fighter 2, then no doubt you were shocked upset and quite scared by the complete silliness of the original Street Fighter movie. They really got it seriously wrong, however the animation movies they released where much more in line with the actual story of the games and with the upcoming Legend of Chun Li, it looks as though they may be back on the right path.
Focusing on one of the more popular Street Fighter characters is a wise move and should allow some more story and depth to the film, rather than just trying like crazy to fit all the characters into a storyline that just doesn’t work. The cast this time seems much more suited, with Smallville’s Kristen Kreuk taking the lead role of Chun Li, Bison is played by Neal Mcdonough and some well known names from other characters are Michael Clarke Duncan and Chris Klein.
The director for Street Fighter – The Legend of Chun Li is Andrzej Barkowiak who previous credits include the very stylish Romeo Must Die, exit wounds and Cradle 2 the Grave, so you can expect some inventive stylish and snappy direction. With a support cast of professional who have worked on movies like The Punisher, Ronin and the Bourne Ultimatum you gotta say that this movie could actually be pretty good. Were just gonna have to wait and see.
