The Road – Upcoming Apocalyptic Flick

the_road_1.jpg

The Road is an upcoming movie directed by John Hillcoat based on the 2006 book of the same name, it follows a father and his son, Viggo Mortensen and Kodi Smit-McPhee who are survivors of an unknown apocalypse and are on the road looking for somewhere to stay and possibly find other survivors from the disaster.  So far The Road is doing hot stuff in the post release reviews with it currently certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes and looking promising, so far the Road has totally slipped under the radar for me and it’s actually due for release late next month on the 25th of November.

The Road also stars Charlize Theron, Robert Duvall and Guy Pearce and for such a small budget movie around $30 million it has an impressive cast.  The story is faithful to the original book and is more about the day to day events of surviving a disaster while never letting the details of the actual apocalypse known leaving the viewer in the same position as the characters.
