Sherlock Holmes and Avatar Set to battle for the Christmas Number One

With the Christmas number one battle still going it looks as though Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes is in a close battle to take the crown this weekend against James Cameron’s Avatar. Both movies have been doing the business at the box office this weekend and while we don’t have the complete figures yet, it appears that Avatar might just pip Sherlock Holmes to the post.

Either way both movies seem worthy of getting your hard earned cash, with great reviews for both movies over the past few weeks, although critics seem to be heaping more praise on Avatar but in all fairness its a much grander scale project. I’ve seen Avatar and i though it was great and definitely worthy of the pre release hype, but I’ve not had chance to see Sherlock Holmes yet, although its high on my list of things to do.

Its going to be interesting when we get to see the final results and see which film grossed the most on this Christmas Weekend, but it looks as though the safe money should be going on Avatar.
